For the last two and a half years, we've been providing you with two daily prompts to inspire you when your fingers are frozen on the keyboard: The QotD and Vox Hunt.
We've noticed in the past year or so that while most of you love to answer the Question of the Day, fewer and fewer of you have been responding to the daily Vox Hunts. In fact, it seemed that, if anything, the Vox Hunt was taking away from the Question of the Day, rather than complementing it, as intended. Because of that, we've made the tough decision to remove Vox Hunt and focus solely on the Question of the Day.
We understand that change of any kind is never easy, but rest assured: while Vox Hunt is going away, the ideas and challenge associated with Vox Hunts will still remain, only now you'll find them within the QotD. From time to time, QotDs will ask you questions that encourage you to add media associated with your answer (photos, music, videso), just like the Vox Hunt did.
We hope that by combining the two, we will succeed in inspiring even more people to answer the QotD and in bringing the Vox community together by prompting you to share your vast array of opinions and stories (and the media associated with them) on similar topics.
Today is the last day for Vox Hunt, so take a moment to say goodbye by showing us whatever it is that makes you happy.
If you have any questions or thoughts about this... or anything, you can always send me a message.
Until next time...
Earth Day was founded to inspire awareness and appreciation for our
environment, and while today might be the official Earth Day, at Vox, we believe that every day is new opportunity to help make our
planet clean and healthy. That’s why we’ve partnered with Cisco to
promote the One Million Acts of Green website.
One
Million Acts of Green is a collaborative environmental campaign
encouraging everyone to go green one act at a time. The goal? One
million acts of green. Because, as we all know, we’re more powerful
together than we can ever be apart.
That’s where you come in. We’ve come up with a few easy ways to inspire you to help the planet because we truly believe that every act of green makes a difference.
Here’s how you can do your part:
1. Adopt a Green Badge for Your Blog & We Will Donate $1000 to The Climate Project
We created four green badges for you to choose from (you can see one of them on the right). Each badge links to the One Million Acts of Green, brought to you by Cisco website. By putting a badge on your blog, you’ll not only be spreading the message of the importance of going green, you’ll be participating in an environmental campaign that will impact the world forever.
Plus, when the badges receive 100,000 impressions across the blogosphere, Vox's parent company, Six Apart, will donate $1000 to The Climate Project.Visit Everything TypePad to learn how to add a Green Badge to your Vox blog.
2. Answer today’s QotD
We want to know: How could you better “green” your life? What’s holding you back?
Taking the time to share what you're already doing, as well as thinking about what you could do better going forward, will hopefully be not only an inspiration to you, but to everyone in your neighborhood.
Thank you for every act of green you perform on a daily basis to make this world a better place. Because when we all do one act, we act as one, and help the planet. And that is what today, and every day, should be about.
It seems in life we're quick to hand out praise to those around us, but how often do we take a few moments to acknowledge our own accomplishments and successes? Well now's your chance to reflect on your moments of greatness, pat yourself on the back, and share your story with everyone in your neighborhood!
Nature Made teamed up with Vox to help us celebrate the greatness in all of you. Answer yesterday and today's QotD to share your story.
After you’ve answered the QotD, you can submit your story of greatness at NatureMade.com and enter to win $1000 and a spot in the Nature Made “Fuel Your Greatness” documentary.
Keep your eyes peeled because we'll be asking you to share more stories about the things you do that make the world a better place.
Designers, you have just two days left to submit your theme in the HP "What Do You Have to Say?" Theme Design Contest! Be sure to upload your entry by Friday, April 4th at 5 p.m. PDT. The top three winners, as selected by the panel of judges, will receive a cool prize:

April Fools! The QotD & Vox Hunt Aren't Going Anywhere!
Yesterday, we announced the end of an era on Vox. Those of you who clicked on the link in the post or the Vox Talks newsletter were directed to a QotD asking, "What's the best April Fools' Day prank you've ever had pulled on you?"
Since not everyone clicked on the link, we thought we'd just go ahead and state the obvious: We were just playing an April Fools' Day joke on you. QotD and Vox Hunt are an institution around here and it would take a lot more than a few discussions about the "direction of Vox" to make a change as enormous as that.
Have a good idea for the QotD or Vox Hunt? Please send us a message letting us know what questions or challenges you'd like to see and we'll do our best to get them out there.
And thanks for being such good sports!
As you've noticed, we've been making a lot of changes to Vox during the past couple of months. These changes were all implemented to make sure you're getting the most out of your Vox experience... to ensure that Vox is truly a place where you can come to share your passions and your creativity.
Two of the features we originally implemented to inspire creativity recently came up in conversation. The Question of the Day and Vox Hunt have both been fixtures of Vox since the very beginning. As we sat around in meetings and discussed their role going forward, we marveled at your honesty answering questions like, "How many times have you had your heart broken?" and laughed at your willingness to "show us your worst school photo." Vox Hunt and the QotD have truly been an amazing and important part of Vox throughout our infancy.
However, in our lengthy discussions, we realized that we just no longer felt like the QotD or Vox Hunt were representative of the direction in which Vox is going. This was a difficult decision, and while it may seem abrupt, please trust us when we tell you it has been discussed extensively and all the pros and cons have been weighed and measured.
All of that being said, today will be the last day for both the QotD and Vox Hunt. So please do take the time to answer both and celebrate what was an amazing Vox tradition.
We've turned off the comments for this post as we'd like to collect all the feedback for this decision in one place. If you'd like to read more about this decision, or provide us with comments/feedback, please do so here.
We're going to miss the QotD and Vox Hunt as well, but we have some new ideas up our sleeve that we think you'll love even more. We hope you agree.
There are a lot of things that you can do to participate in Vox as a community member, and some of the most engaging are the daily prompts and the spotlight area for [this is good]. It's quite fun to see what the Question of the Day and Vox Hunt will be every day - this is something that I personally enjoy checking out each morning. I also look forward to every time [this is good] is updated (about 3 times a week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday), so I can click through and see what great content around Vox is being featured.
Voxers always have something to say, and the goal of QotD and Vox Hunt are to get you thinking and writing even when you log in and aren't feeling inspired. If the day's QotD or Vox Hunt doesn't move you, you can click the arrows to read through and answer previous prompts. The posts and photo featured in [this is good] can inspire you or help you make a new friend.
Where does this content come from? We get suggestions from you, our members, and these are looked at by the community team to add their own suggestions and pull it all together. Vox has a great deal of spotlight-worthy content, and we really love that our community helps us as the "eyes and ears" to point out the great things they see!
So how can you give us your ideas? The Home page of Vox has "suggest" and "submit" links in each of the prompt and feature boxes. Click on that link, and it will create a new private message addressed to the community team. For the QotD and Vox Hunt prompts, put your idea in the form of a question or statement that people would answer. Keep in mind Vox has an international audience and the questions should be open-ended (not "yes" or "no"). For [this is good], include a link to the item you are suggesting, and the reason why. Tip: If you want to have a record of all of the ideas you submitted, make sure you click the "Send me a copy via email"!
How else can you be part of the community? There are a lot of ways, really, but here are a few ideas:
- Add relevant tags to your posts and items. This makes it easier for people to find them. See All About Tags
- Explore the answers for Vox Hunt and QotD from other members. You might find some great people to add to your neighborhood. See Exploring Vox Blogs
- Join groups and add your posts to them. This is a great way to share content related to specific topics. See Adding Content to Groups
And of course, check out the Question of the Day and Vox Hunt to answer them as often as you'd like!
Have you shared suggestions for our community content yet? Share some of your ideas in the comments, and you just might inspire your friends to participate too!

It's time for another international Question of the Day and Vox Hunt event!
Today we're asking Voxers around the world to share their thoughts on summertime. Team Vox U.S., France, Spain and Japan are all running these prompts:
QotD: What will you remember most about this summer?
Vox Hunt: Share your favorite song from this summer.
The responses to all the prompts will be marked with the tag "summer 2007". After everyone has a chance to respond, a search on that global tag of "summer 2007" will show posts, photos, video and/or audio from around the Vox world, all sharing the same summertime theme.
We hope you're able to participate in the summertime fun. Our plan is to team up for these shared global themes a few times a year, so that our Vox neighborhood can extend across the world.

There are always great things to discover on Vox, and we spotlight some of the neat stuff we see around Vox in the [this is good] area, which you can find on the Explore page. We feature this great stuff based on your suggestions, so any time you see something inspiring, funny, thought-provoking or interesting in any way, click on "suggest this is good" and send the link to us!
If you're looking for inspiration for your own Vox, we give you prompts every day with the Question of the Day and Vox Hunt, right on the Home page. As you can imagine, coming up with QotD and Vox Hunt prompts every single day of the year is no easy task; we've got a hugely diverse community, so finding something that connect with everyone can be tough. Please, don't be shy about sending in your suggestions!
If you've missed some past prompts and spotlighted content, are you just left out in the cold? Of course not! The [this is good], Vox Hunt, and QotD areas all have arrows you can click on to scroll through a few recent entries. And all of these areas are actually
powered by Vox blogs that you can visit any time -- you can even add them
to your Neighborhood to always stay up-to-date with them. We know that older QotD and Vox Hunt prompts can still be great for post ideas, and it's always fun to see the content that's been highlighted on Vox in the past.
- See all the [this is good] content at thisisgood.vox.com.
- View the QotD at questions.vox.com.
- Track every Vox Hunt at voxhunt.vox.com.
Some of our multi-lingual members have asked about how to participate in the Japanese and French QotDs and Vox Hunts. There are blogs running those too, so feel free to add them to your Neighborhood!
- For ideas in Japanese, check out questions-jp.vox.com and voxhunt-jp.vox.com
- For French prompts, take a look at questions-fr.vox.com and voxhunt-fr.vox.com
And for those of us who don't know enough Japanese and/or French to participate in those prompts, there are always photos to view at the Japanese [this is good] at thisisgood-jp.vox.com and the French [this is good] at thisisgood-fr.vox.com. You don't need to speak the language to leave someone a [this is good] on those, and you can even leave them a [いいですね] or [c’est top] if you'd rather do that.
For those of you who Twitter, we wanted to let you know that the Question of the Day now automatically updates its own Twitter account. Special thanks to Kentaro for setting up and maintaining it.
Add QotD to your Twitter friends: http://twitter.com/qotd_vox
You can even grab a badge to display the QotD or your own Twitter account as a post in your Vox blog. Just use the Embed button in the Compose page to drop in the code.
If you haven't been introduced to Twitter yet, their website describes it as: "a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing? Answer on your phone, IM, or on the web!" You can sign up for a free account to check it out.
We know that some of you are already on Twitter, many of you are posting about it, and some of you just refuse to try it. Let us know what you think. Do you Twitter?

Spring has sprung for many of us, which can mean rebirth and a renewed spirit in a lot of different ways. Whether you're tackling spring cleaning, doing some spring training, recovering from spring break or showing signs of spring fever, we hope you're graced with some good weather and sunshine. (And if you're not experiencing spring, we hope this post warms your day.)
Both Team Vox U.S. and Team Vox Japan have been asking the Vox community what spring means to you. Last month, we ran Spy's Question of the Day "What, to you, is the first sign of spring? Have you seen it yet?" Team Vox Japan are asking similar questions in their QotDs as well, and we made sure the answers across both communities were tagged 2007spring. Most of you probably can't read Japanese Voxers' posts, but you can enjoy their photos! Here are just a few photos tagged 2007spring:
See what spring means to Voxers in words and photos. If there is a photo or post that you like, click on it and leave a comment, or just leave a [this is good].
